Updates December - Recap, Bible Translation, Always on the Move and more!

Posted by Kitty on December 13, 2024

In this blog, we look back on the past year and look ahead to 2025. Over the past few weeks we have been developing Kefas and are happy to take you through the changes.

Our impact in 2024

More than 30 churches now use Kefas on a weekly basis. Together you have created more than 1,500 meetings this year and sent more than 250,000 messages!

Most translations have been into English, Arabic, Ukrainian, Farsi, Russian and French. But did you know that there are also churches that translate into languages such as Pashtu (spoken in Afghanistan and Pakistan), Swahili (spoken in East Africa) and even Armenian?

All this is possible because of your enthusiasm and commitment. You are the ones who ensure that the message of God is translated every week and reaches more and more people, no matter what language they speak. Thank you!

Find and send Bible texts more easily

For users with a Bible translation in their subscription, we have found an easier way to search and send Bible texts directly, exactly when needed during a service.

The search field is now even more user-friendly: you no longer have to specify the entire book of the Bible. It is enough to type in Joz 1;1-2, for example, and the text appears immediately. This makes searching faster and easier. In addition, we have added a convenient dropdown that allows you to search specifically for a book of the Bible. If you then choose the entire chapter, such as Psalm 119, all verses will automatically be displayed.

Want to send a Bible text right from the liturgy or speech-to-text during the service? Then click on the Bible icon in the taskbar. A side panel opens where you can easily search for the Bible text and send it directly to the visitors. Once you click “Send,” this menu disappears and you can pick up where you left off.

To support this new functionality, we have given the icons in the taskbar on the left a small update. The icon for the library has been modified so that we can use the book icon for the Bible.

Channels: improvement on the details

We have implemented a small but useful update that makes using Kefas even smoother. Channels are now automatically sorted in alphabetical order both in the overview and when creating a meeting. This makes searching and finding the right channel much easier. No more scrolling through a random list!

We've also added something extra for Kefas channel users (currently still in beta). You can now share your channel directly from your phone with others who want to use the same language. With one click on the 'Share' button, you can easily distribute a link or QR code so that everyone can quickly access the right channel.

With these improvements, we are making it even easier to engage international visitors and give them access to translations in their own language. Try it out and let us know what you think!

Speech-to-text enhancements

We've further improved the Speech-to-Text feature in Kefas, giving you even more control over your text blocks. The changes in a row:

  1. Clear distinction between sent and new text blocks
Text blocks sent to the editor are now instantly recognizable by a prominent green checkmark. This allows you to see at a glance which text has already been sent and which has not yet been sent.

  2. More control when scrolling
You now control when you want to view new blocks of text. New text doesn't appear until you scroll down yourself, allowing you to keep an overview and focus on what's important.

These improvements make it easier to select the right texts and avoid incorrect entries. In short: you are in control!

Always up to date!

At Kefas we continue to develop continuously to make the application even better and more user-friendly. We like to keep you informed about the changes, so you can take full advantage of the new features and improvements. We do this in the following ways:

Kefas Dashboard

Have you seen it yet? In the dashboard, we have made a new addition: a link to the help pages in the side panel and a section with short updates about interim improvements and adjustments in Kefas. These updates are about features that are immediately noticeable in the application. This way, you can stay up to date effortlessly and quickly, without having to wait for a newsletter. Want to know more? Click on an update to read the full post!

Newsletters and blogs

We send out our newsletters about four times a year, with valuable updates, tips and information about new features. Every user within Kefas receives the newsletter. For more in-depth articles, please visit our blog.

Help pages

Our help pages on the website are now available and serve as your central place for explanation and support. Here you will find extensive information on how to optimally use Kefas. Soon we will also add images for additional clarification and visualization, making it even easier to get started. Keep an eye on these pages for updates and new additions!
