Updates September - New editor, fixing texts with the AI Assistant, and more!

Posted by Bob on September 29, 2023

Over the past few months we have been working hard on a new editor, an AI Assistant, and more!

New editor is available

Over the past year we have been adding more and more new features to Kefas, such as the updated library and speech to text. This made the editor increasingly complex. The new editor should make it easier for you to find and use all functionalities while translating the church service.

Sent messages

On the right side of the editor you will find the sent messages column. This column used to be on the left side, so it has been moved.

Input

In the center of the screen you will find the input field.

At the bottom of the input field we have added a number of buttons. For example, you can revert or restore changes made. Here you will also find the button to start the speech-to-text stream, and the AI Assistant button to correct the entered text (more on that later in this article).

Library

The library now does not open in a separate "screen," but in the editor itself. This allows you to leave the library open while also entering a new post.

You will find the library button on the left side of the editor.

Speech to text

Have you already tested our new speech to text functionality? If so, you're familiar with the "balloons" that "pop up" in the editor when the stream has captured new text. This didn't work ideally. We have now fully integrated the input from the speech-to-text stream into the editor.

All messages coming in through the stream are now visible and retrievable on the left side of the screen. In this list you can now determine if you want to archive the message if you are not going to use it. If you click on the message it will be added to the editor's entry.

You will find the button on the left side of the editor.

Enhanced speech to text

The speech to text functionality has been tested for several months by a number of municipalities. They have helped us with very good feedback.

We have made many improvements in terms of user experience. The new editor is a good example of this. We have also better tuned the algorithm to your needs. This has improved the quality of posts.

AI Assistant

Over the past few months you couldn't ignore it, the development of AI and programs like ChatGTP is moving at lightning speed. At Kefas, we also started to look at how to properly deploy the underlying technology (LLM).

To this end, we added a functionality to the editor: the AI Assistant. The assistant can help you correct entered text with various tools.

We have activated the first tool: 'Repair Text'. In this case, the entered text will be corrected: spelling errors will be fixed, sentence structure will be improved and difficult language will be simplified.

We are also experimenting with other tools such as summarizing entered text, and converting keywords into running sentences. We hope to add these to the AI Assistant soon.

Automatic archiving meetings

Meetings older than 3 months have recently been automatically archived. This keeps the list of meetings clearer, and keeps our system fast and up-to-date.

Improvement snippets

When you created or edited a snippet in the library, the translation was equalized in the background. So if you edited the snippet several times, it cost credits each time.

We have changed this. From now on, the translation is no longer made in advance. Only when you actually send the snippet will the translation be made (once). We hope this will reduce the consumption of credits.
